Birds - American Avocet
Class:Aves Order:Charadriiformes Family:Recurvirostridae


American Avocet, Recurvirostra americana. This Avocet can be identified by his black and white body, cinnamon head and long, skinny gray legs. He is a wader or shoreboeard, and spends most of his time near the water. He dips his bill into the water for insects and very small creatures (like crawfish).
