Birds - Blue Grosbeak
Class:Aves Order:Passeriformes Family:Cardinalidae Genus:Passerina


Blue Grosbeak, Passerina caerulea. This bird is related to the cardinal. The males are a beautiful blue, but the females are brown. Both sexes have a double wing bar. They feed on seeds and can be found in a variety of habitats. Nick Varvel photographed this Blue Grosbeak at the KCP&L Wetlands in September.
