Birds - Canada Goose
Class:Aves Order:Anseriformes Family:Anatidae

Canada Goose, Branta canadensis. This is a large brown goose with a black and neck, but a white chin area. They are very prevalent in the Kansas City area. They fly in V-shapes groups. You can find them in just about any setting from ponds and lakes to fields and parks - even hanging out on neighborhoods lawns. It seems to me that 20 years ago you didn't see the Canada Goose around the metro that often. Now you can hear them honking overhead several times a day and most parks with lakes, especially in Johnson County, are coated with them.

All species pages are currently being updated with more useful descriptions and information.
