Birds - Clay-Colored Sparrow
Class:Aves Order:Passeriformes Family:Emberizidae Genus:Spizella


Clay-Colored Sparrow, Spizella pallida. A ground-foraging sparrow that eats mostly insects and seeds. They are very small and have white markings over the eyes. Their bills are short and light, but with a darker tip. These little Clay-Colored Sparrows started showing up in the area in the early Spring.
