Birds - European Starling
Class:Aves Order:Passeriformes Family:Sturnidae

These black birds are not native to North America, but have lived here since the 1800s. They hang out in mobs and can be aggressive with other species. They are a beautiful, oily black with feathers that reflect light in beautiful, dark colors. From a distance these birds appear to be all black. Up close, you realize that their backs are a beautiful brown, black and green with white spots. When they are in full sun they give off a sort of iridescent shimmer. I nearly always see these Starlings in pairs.

All species pages are currently being updated with more useful descriptions and information.
