Birds - Franklin's Gull
Class:Aves Order:Charadriiformes Family:Laridae

Franklin's Gull, Leucophaeus ipixcan. Gorgeous gull with a white body, dark gray wings and a black head (in breeding season). The contrast of their coloring is awesome. They build their nests directly oon the water and it requires frequent maintenance. I am days away from any ocean or great lake yet in early October my Kansas City neighborhood was circled daily by dozens of gulls for 4 days. They are dazzling to watch on a sunny day against a blue sky.
