Birds - Mississippi Kite
Class:Aves Order:Falconiformes Family:Accipitridae Genus:Ictinia

Mississippi Kite, Ictinia mississippiensis. Gray birds of prey who eat mostly insects, but also hunt a large variety of small animals. Juveniles sport a streaked body and banded tail. They can be found nesting in urban areas, which actually protect their young from predators. Look out, though! If you get too close to a nest, these birds are known to dive!
