Insects/Bugs/Bees/Butterflies - Monarch Class:Insecta Order:Lepidoptera Family:Nymphalidae Genus:Danaus
The Monarch starts showing up in earnest about mid-August. They seem to love Phlox, Rose Of Sharon and of course Butterfly Bush. Often the Swallowtails will chase them off of the Phlox and the Monarch will do the same to the Cabbage Whites or anything else smaller than them. They seem to become more combative towards the end of August. |
