Birds - Northern Parula
Class:Aves Order:Passeriformes Family:Parulidae Genus:Setophaga

Northern Parula, Parula americana. We are just barely in the breeding range for this beautiful warbler, but they can still be seen. They are quite colorful with their blue-gray bodies, yellow breast and greenish-yellow back. They have white bands on the wings. The colors are more vibrant on a breeding male. These tiny little birds tend to prefer forested areas and prey upon insects for food. Photographed this Northern Parula at Roe Park in early May.
