Birds - Northern Rough-winged Swallow
Class:Aves Order:Passeriformes Family:Hirundinidae


Northern Rough-winged Swallow, Stelgidopteryx serripennis. Darker brown with a paler breast and throat, with the classic swallow shaped wings and tail feathers. These birds are common across the country in summer. They are aerial foragers, catching insects in flight. These Swallows were photographed in Western Kansas and in Leawood.
