Birds - Northern Shoveler
Class:Aves Order:Anseriformes Family:Anatidae Genus:Anas


Northern Shoveler, Anas clypeata. Common duck found around the world. It is named for its unique bill shape. The males, when breeding, have dark green down the neck and in the lower wings. The wings are also marked with white and blue. Nonbreeding males are spotted brown, more like females. These Northern Shovelers were photographed by Nick Varvel and John McConnell.
